Remember years ago when you wanted to be a writer and have your own column where people would check it out every week?
Remember when you saw yourself as a young Carrie Bradshaw and wanted to wander the streets of NYC with the "NEW YORKKKK" song in the background as you want slowly down the street in your heels, hair and makeup on fleek and just a girl out of anyone's league?
Well who didn't?
Remember when you felt hazy about the future because whatever you picked to do for the rest of your life, once you just let it slip from your mouth and anyone else knows about it they start bringing up reasons why you shouldn't and how as a muslim arab girl you won't be able to pull it off?
Remember the limiations?
Remember the excuses?
Remember all the reasons they told you NO for?
Remember that young girl who kept on planning the university of Arts she would go to and how she spent hours trying to figure out how she can pull it off until she let it slip off her tongue and she wished she didn't.
Remember how your favorite shows were all about fashion, crime scenes, dance & writing.
Today I write you this without any conscious thinking and a half awake brain to tell you:
Hell to that NO.
Bring on the YES.
Follow what sets your soul on fire and do whatever the hell you got to do to make the young lady and the young girl happy.
Tonight as you sit to write this in your dark room and just feel alone, you say
life is lived only once, you keep it real and show up however you want to be.
You say anyone can find a way to make their dreams come true if they want it enough.
You say don't mind those who think you should change anything about yourself, only you decide that.
You say you accept your goals and you work towards them. There's nothing wrong with dreaming nor purchasing your dreams.
You say you can do it and you will.
You say not only time will tell. You too will tell cause you ain't gonna be in the backseat no more.
& now you say go to sleep because you've got a big day tomorrow & every day.
Sleep tight x
