Does celebrating the holidays make me any less of a Muslim than I am?

Rules before reading this post:
1. Keep an open mind.
2. No judging.

Picture
This can go so wrong or as I have it in mind,
Let's cross fingers and we shall see.

First it's more of "cultural" event than a religious occasion to many according to surveys carried out around the world. One of the results was two thirds of Christians (65%) say it's mostly a religious holiday for them, the rest see it as a cultural event.

Others see it a commercial celebration than a religious festival. It's very debatable across the internet.

It's one of the best excuses for a party as seen by many. Google different philosophies and you'll read a lot that will blow your mind.

Across the world Muslims do the same as everyone who is not a practicing Christian at Christmas. They spend time with loved ones, enjoying the holiday period. There is no requirement that one be a Christian to enjoy the season after all.
Many Muslims will be sitting down to large family get-together at Christmas, which is a time facilitated by bank holidays & extra days off. Yes presents are shared but because it is some time since the family has all been together.

There is plenty of Consumerism. The joyful knowledge that all the Christmas goodies can be bought at a fraction of the cost in the sales in very very alluring for any savvy shopper.
Muslim or not.

Yes like Christmas, Muslim's Eid celebration represents a time of giving but for many living abroad it is not an official holiday for families to get together.
Also Nowadays people are forgetting all about their roots and disguising the features of true Muslim holidays with partying, beer, sa7el & much much more.
It's not like before families coming together and if families do come together many of the people attending will be dreading the day and counting for it to be checked off the list.
What a joy!

Basically TOLERANCE AND COEXISTENCE.
During times of great turbulence and fear, tolerance and coexistence are much needed in this world -Said by Rayana Khalaf.

If you didn't know about this before, just as many Muslims are responding to the hate with love, many Christians around the world are, too, living up the true message of their faith.

During the holy month of Ramadan:
1. A church in Australia hosted Iftar and Friday prayers every week for the past 6 years.
2. A church in the UAE welcomed Muslim workers for Maghrib prayers.
3. Churches around the world have been hosting Iftars.
4. A church in Michigan honored Muslimswith a kind gesture of putting up a sign and wishing them a blessed Ramadan.
5. A christian Mesaharati in Palestine wakes Muslims for Sohoor.

So we come to the point of tolerance and coexistence.
It's not a bad thing. Many are just doing the best they can for a more peaceful world.

I don't celebrate Christmas for its religious aspects.
Christmas for me is a season. A holiday festive season that is just close to New years and after that like beads from a necklace flow all the other events of the next year start to come into sight rolling their way down to December eventually and wrapping the year up.

The holiday season is a season of coming together. Same for Ramadan & Eid for me.
I always go the extra mile. I take the holidays very seriously. If you know me then you surely know that already.
And I tried several times to celebrate Eid better but in the simplest forms I don't get where I want because of the culture or because partying is a lot better for many.
The holiday season for me is all about Vlogmas, holiday movies, chocolates, desserts and my fake Christmas tree that I enjoy decorating because it adds life to the deck in front of my room and my cat loves it too. I enjoy baking and cooking specially in the winter season because then I can bear the heat in the kitchen and I love holiday desserts.
I love getting my Christmas pajamas and onesie ready for the week before the New years.
And this year round I attended my first Christmas gathering and decorated the tree with my bestfriend.

I am just a girl in her 20s who is enjoying the different aspects in life but that does NOT make me any less of a Muslim than I already am.
I am always thriving to be a better Muslim but that's between me & Allah.
So stop judging and start accepting the world to focus more on living rather than watching others live.
