This recipe was inspired by Dina Hamdi: @dinainthekitchen

She started November leftovers challenge & I tried to participate but didn't know how yet until I noticed one of major problems at our house which is left to dry cereal that no one likes to eat. & so the idea came to me to transform it to a crusted french toast recipe!

Servings 5
Prep Time: 00:05
Cook Time: 00:15

Main Ingredients:
3 large eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 thick slices of bread
2 cups corn flakes cereal
1 - 2 tablespoons of butter room temperature or more if you need.

Preparation
1 in a shallow pie dish add the milk, flour, sugar, salt, eggs, cinnamon & vanilla and whisk well to mix.
2 In a zip-lock bag place the cornflakes and crush it with your hands or a rolling pin (I used a rolling pin) until they are around size of rolled oats.
3 In another shallow dish spread the crushed cornflakes.
4 Dip each slice of bread into egg mixture and press gently into crushed cornflakes while flipping to make sure both sides are coated.
5 In a non stick pan; melt small piece of butter over medium heat.
6 Add the bread and cook for around 3 minutes each side until golden then flip.
7 Serve with your favorite syrup & fruits. (In this case frozen strawberries & maple syrup)

Additional Notes:
It depends on your pan the amount of butter you use.
I made a mistake of using toast when I should have used another type of bread and sliced it instead so you should consider that when applying it.
The cereal adds texture to the french toast if you find it soggy.
The cereal browns so fast so you have to keep an eye on the skillet when cooking.
Frozen fruits will add a whole different dimension to the taste so it's a must try.

Next time I'll try to work more on the steps with pictures.
